• Thule WingBar Edge - The top of Thule's range: a slim, aerodynamic aluminium bar built to keep wind noise to a minimum. Works with every Thule T-bolt accessory, carries up to 75 kg combined and comes with a built-in key lock.
• Thule WingBar Evo - An all-round wing-shaped bar that pairs a quiet, aerodynamic profile with wide accessory fitment. Carries up to 75 kg combined - a good match for roof boxes, bike carriers and ski racks.
• Thule SquareBar Evo - Thule's traditional square steel bar: tough, dependable and compatible with the widest choice of T-bolt accessories. Well suited to heavier loads, up to 75 kg combined.
• Summit - Strong value for money, with dependable day-to-day performance and a simple fit. Summit bars take a wide range of roof accessories and are a favourite with UK drivers.
• Menabo - Roof bars designed in Italy, with smart looks and a solid build. A strong mid-price choice if you want good performance and a bar that looks the part.

Which Subaru Forester Years We Cover (1997-2025)

We carry roof bar kits for the Subaru Forester built between 1997 and 2025. Which kit you need depends on the body style (Estate, Hatchback, Saloon, SUV or Crossover) and on how the roof of your particular version is set up. Type your registration into the search above for an instant exact match, or pick your year and body type with the manual vehicle selector.

Working Out Your Subaru Forester Roof Type

Your Subaru Forester's roof type decides which foot pack the kit needs, so it is worth checking before you choose. A Subaru Forester can have any of these roof types:

• Raised Roof Rails - Rails that sit above the roof with a clear gap underneath. The kit uses raised-rail feet that fit over each rail and clamp down onto it.
• Flush / Integrated Roof Rails - Rails built in level with the roof. These need flush-rail feet that grip the rail profile from underneath or clamp onto it.
• Bare Roof (No Rails) - A plain roof with no rails. The feet clamp into the door frames, and the fitting kit supplied for your car puts them in exactly the right place.
• Fixed Mounting Points - Some versions of the Subaru Forester leave the factory with threaded fixing points in the roof. Feet that bolt straight into them give the firmest, quietest fit of all.

Unsure which one you have? Put your registration into the lookup at the top of this page - it works out your roof type for you and lists only the kits confirmed to fit.

What's in the Box with a Subaru Forester Roof Bar Kit?

Each Subaru Forester roof bar kit from My Roof Bars is complete in one order. Inside you will find:

• A pair of roof bars (WingBar, SquareBar, or the Summit / Menabo equivalent - whichever system you pick)
• Foot pack (the feet and clamps chosen for your Subaru Forester's roof type and version)
• Fitting kit made for the Subaru Forester (1997-2025), which sets the feet in the correct position on your car
• Locks - a T-slot key lock with every Thule kit, or the matching security fastener for other brands
• The manufacturer's fitting instructions - in every kit, and no special tools needed

You will not need to buy anything else. Find your Subaru Forester in the vehicle finder, add the kit to your basket and it arrives ready to fit straight out of the box.

Subaru Forester Roof Bar Load Limits

Two limits apply: what the roof bars are rated to carry, and the maximum roof load set by the Subaru Forester's manufacturer. Always keep within whichever is lower - going over either is unsafe and could affect your vehicle warranty or insurance.

• Thule WingBar Edge, WingBar Evo and SquareBar Evo: rated to 75 kg combined
• Summit roof bars: rated to 75 kg combined
• Menabo roof bars: rated to 50-75 kg combined, depending on the model
• Check the Subaru Forester owner's handbook for the maker's roof load limit - usually between 75 and 100 kg, depending on the version

Fitting Roof Bars to a Subaru Forester

Most people fit roof bars to a Subaru Forester in 15 to 30 minutes, without special tools or any previous experience. Every Thule, Summit and Menabo kit from My Roof Bars comes with clear step-by-step instructions, and there is no drilling and nothing permanent - your roof and paintwork stay as they are. In outline:

• Step 1: Confirm your Subaru Forester's roof type using the list above or the instructions in the box.
• Step 2: Place the fitting kit parts at the fixing points shown in the instructions.
• Step 3: Fix the feet onto the fitting kit.
• Step 4: Slide or click the bars into the feet and check they sit correctly.
• Step 5: Tighten every fixing to the torque given in the instructions, then lock with the key supplied.
• Step 6: Check all the fixings again before you load anything, and once more after the first 50 miles.

Subaru Forester Roof Bars - Your Questions Answered

Which roof bars will fit my Subaru Forester?

My Roof Bars sells complete kits made for the Subaru Forester (1997-2025) from Thule (WingBar Edge, WingBar Evo, SquareBar Evo), Summit and Menabo. Enter your registration or use the manual selector to see every kit confirmed for your year and version. Can't find your car? Get in touch - we may be able to source a kit.

Does every Subaru Forester use the same roof bar kit?

Not necessarily. The kit can change with the body style (Estate, Hatchback, Saloon, SUV or Crossover) and with the roof setup (raised rails, flush rails, bare roof or fixed points), so two Subaru Forester models from the same year may need different kits. The registration lookup gives an exact answer - or ask our team if in doubt.

What is the load limit for Subaru Forester roof bars?

Thule and Summit bars for the Subaru Forester are rated to 75 kg combined. The Subaru Forester's own roof load limit, in the owner's handbook, also applies - stay under whichever figure is lower. For most Subaru Forester versions and years the manufacturer's limit is somewhere between 75 and 100 kg.

Will a roof box fit on my Subaru Forester roof bars?

Yes. With bars fitted, your Subaru Forester can take Thule T-bolt roof boxes and plenty more - bike carriers, ski and snowboard racks, kayak and surfboard mounts and roof tents - as long as the total weight stays inside the rated limit. Thule WingBar and SquareBar systems all have the T-bolt slot, so the whole Thule accessory range fits.

Can roof bars mark or damage my Subaru Forester?

No. Every kit from My Roof Bars comes off again completely - no drilling, no glue and no permanent changes to your Subaru Forester. The kits attach to what is already there (rails, door frames or factory fixing points) without marking the car, and taking them off is as easy as putting them on.

How can I check what year my Subaru Forester is?

Simplest is to enter your registration in the lookup at the top of the page: it finds the year, body style and roof type for you and shows just the kits that fit. You can also find the year of manufacture on the V5C logbook or the windscreen, or with a DVLA vehicle check.
